Processing and preservation of materials are important functions in the library, whether the materials are physical or digital. Establishing best practices for processing items, for repairing damage, for providing good environmental conditions, and for preserving items of historic value—all of this knowledge grows out of a solid tradition while adapting to change and new technology tools.

CML prepares to receive another genealogy collection!
The Palatines to America Society, which specializes in German ancestral research, has selected CML to receive their unique collection. It includes materials from areas in Switzerland, Austria, France and Poland where significant German-speaking populations lived. Once processed, the collection will be made available to public sometime in early 2009.
